The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency said Tuesday it will distribute free blue roof sheeting for use by the general public on Friday, September 18, on St. Thomas and St. Croix.

VITEMA said the familiar bright blue polyurethane sheeting may be used in the event of wind damage to homes and private property. Each lightweight blue sheet is both waterproof and UV resistant, said the agency. There will be a limited supply of pre-cut sheeting available, and preference will be given to those residents with previously compromised roofs.

Distribution on Friday will be available from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the VITEMA building on St. Thomas, and the Department of Public Works yard at Anna’s Hope on St. Croix. COVID-19 precautions have been put in place to allow for safe distribution directly to vehicles. VITEMA asked residents to wear a mask when picking up the roof sheeting.
