ST. JOHN — The V.I. Police Department late Friday announced that it will hold a press briefing Saturday at 10:00 a.m. to address an officer-involved shooting that occurred on St. John Friday.

There was no indication that the V.I.P.D. would address the officer-involved shooting on St. Croix, which occurred in Estate La Reine Monday night and resulted in the death of one man. Because the incident included federal officers, Police Commissioner Trevor Velinor has said a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office would be likely. As of Friday, however, the U.S. Attorney's Office had not issued a statement on the matter, and U.S. Attorney for the V.I., Gretchen Shappert, told the Consortium Tuesday that the office had no comment.
