VIPD Responds After Man Found With Apparent Gunshot Wound on St. John

A concerned citizen alerted 911 to an unresponsive male in the Concordia area of STJ on Wednesday night, leading officers to a man with an apparent gunshot wound to the head as investigators review preliminary findings and await next-of-kin notification.

ST. JOHN — A man was found unresponsive in the Concordia area of St. John on Wednesday night, prompting an investigation by the V.I. Police Department after officers discovered he appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The VIPD said the preliminary assessment indicates the injury may have been self-inflicted.

According to the department, the incident was first reported on November 26, 2025, at about 9:56 p.m., when the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from a concerned citizen who reported seeing a male “lying motionless on the ground” in Concordia. Patrol officers from the Leander Jurgen Command were dispatched and located the unresponsive individual.

Emergency Medical Technicians evaluated the man at the scene and determined he had no vital signs. The VIPD noted that the man’s identity is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Major Crimes Unit are handling the case as they work to gather additional information.
