The V.I. Police Department has announced a new online service that provides 24/7 access to traffic accident reports. Partnering with CARFAX, VIPD now offers motorists, insurance companies, and other stakeholders the ability to retrieve crash reports conveniently through CRASHDOCS.org.

This service eliminates the need for in-person visits or waiting for business hours to obtain crash reports, according to the VIPD. Users can simply visit the secure website at any time, enter their report reference number, last name, and the accident date, and quickly download the required documentation.

“This launch marks the first phase of our initiative to streamline report requests and provide better service to the community,” stated Acting Commissioner Mario Brooks.

The new platform also streamlines VIPD operations by reducing the volume of phone calls, counter visits, and paper processing. By digitizing report access, the department aims to improve efficiency and enhance the experience for both citizens and staff.

Currently, CRASHDOCS.org offers access to accident reports from January through August 2024. Reports may take up to 14 business days to be available after an incident. For reports prior to January 2024, citizens are advised to visit the Records Bureau in person.

Users can access CRASHDOCS.org via a QR code or directly through the website. The platform supports smart devices, allowing users to search, pay for, and download reports conveniently from their phones or other devices.

For additional inquiries or assistance, residents can contact the Records Bureau at (340) 774-2211 on St. Thomas or (340) 778-2211 on St. Croix.
