Motorists heading into Christiansted on Saturday for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade are being urged to plan ahead, as the V.I. Police Department says multiple parking restrictions and traffic changes will be in effect throughout the day in and around the downtown parade route.

According to VIPD, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 14 beginning at 11:00 a.m. The parade route will start at the Christiansted Fort, at Hospital Street and Company Street, then continue westward along Company Street, through Time Square, turn right onto King Street, and end at the Christiansted Fort.

The police department said several no-parking zones will be enforced during the event.

On Company Street, no parking will be allowed from the intersection of Hospital Street and Company Street from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

On King Street, no parking will be allowed from Time Square to the Christiansted Fort area from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The VIPD also said there will be no parking on Queen Cross Street from the corner of Company Street and Queen Cross Street, near the former Riddims location, to the corner of Queen Cross Street and Strand Lane, near Baci, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In addition, no parking will be permitted on Church Street from the intersection of King Street and Church Street to the intersection of Company Street and Church Street, near Sonya’s Jewelry, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The department is also restricting westbound traffic into town. VIPD said no westbound traffic will be allowed from the Welcome/Bypass Intersection and Hospital Street toward Christiansted Town beginning at 9:00 a.m. Only parade vehicles and participants will be permitted through that area.

Police warned that any vehicles parked in prohibited areas will be ticketed and towed at the owners’ expense.

VIPD said the restrictions are being put in place to support safe movement during the parade and wished everyone attending a safe and enjoyable time. The department also reminded the public to drink responsibly.
