VI Police Department Asking Incomplete Firearm Application Holders to Call Firearms Bureau (Updated)

The VIPD issued a corrected release Friday and said it misspoke when it said licensed firearm holders were to contact the Firearms Bureau immediately. The updated release says, "The Virgin Islands Police Department is appealing to everyone who has failed to complete the firearm license process to contact the Firearms Bureau in your District immediately.

"Individuals who started a firearm application over a year ago but did not complete the process are asked to call the Firearms Bureau to set an appointment to review your file for any missing documents.  Incomplete applications that are more than a year old will be destroyed to protect your personal identity and information. To correct previously released information, licensed firearms owners are not required to contact the Firearms Bureau.

You can reach the Firearms Bureau on St. Croix at (340) 778-2211 and on St. Thomas/St. John at (340) 774-2211.  We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter."
