The Virgin Islands Police Department said Thursday night it received notice that someone on a social media platform stated overnight Wednesday that there was going to be a shooting at an unnamed school in the islands. "No island was named, and no category of school was identified," the V.I.P.D. said.
According to police spokesman Toby Derima, leaders from the V.I.P.D. and the V.I. Department of Education met Thursday morning to review security measures at all schools in the territory.
"The departments are reporting that there is no known imminent threat to any school in the territory," Mr. Derima said. The meeting was held as a precautionary measure.
