The V.I. Office of Veterans Affairs is spearheading an initiative known as the “Veterans Discount Program” and is extending an invitation to businesses throughout the territory to participate.
This program is designed to honor and recognize the sacrifices made by Veterans in ensuring the freedoms enjoyed today and in the future. Additionally, it aims to gain a more accurate count of Veterans residing in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
To be eligible for the program, Veterans are required to participate in a recent partnership between the V.I. Office of Veterans Affairs and the V.I. Bureau of Motor Vehicles. This collaboration involves identifying eligible Veterans through their V.I. Driver’s License, which will now include the designation “Veteran” upon verification of their eligibility by the Office of Veterans Affairs. The marked driver’s license will serve as the primary government-issued ID for Veterans to access discounts under this program.
Businesses interested in supporting and recognizing Veterans through this program can register at the Veterans Discount Program Registration Drive. The registration events will be held on different islands on the following dates and times:
- St. John: Monday, January 22nd, at Frank Powell Bandstand, Cruz Bay, from 3 to 6 pm.
- St. Croix: Wednesday, January 24th, at the Office of Veterans Affairs, St Croix (Watergut), from 3 to 6 pm.
- St. Thomas: Saturday, January 27th, at the Office of Veterans Affairs, St. Thomas, from 12 pm to 3 pm.
