The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVI CELL), in collaboration with several key organizations, is set to host the EmpowerU Youth Summit 2024.
The event will take place on three different dates and locations: February 10 on St. Croix at the UVI Great Hall, February 24 on St. Thomas at the UVI Innovation Center, and March 9 on St. John at the Julius Sprauve School.
Dr. Latashia Edwards, UVI CELL's community engagement manager, emphasized the summit's focus on nurturing students aged 12-18 in various critical life skills. The summit aims to foster their personal and academic growth, preparing them to be confident and responsible individuals. “We believe in providing platforms like the EmpowerU Youth Summit to inspire and equip the leaders of tomorrow,” said Dr. Edwards.
The EmpowerU Youth Summit 2024 will delve into a range of subjects addressing the complex needs of modern youth. These topics include Drug Prevention, Digital Citizenship, Navigating Academic Pressure, Public Speaking, Leadership and Teamwork, Mental Health, Body Image, Peer Relationships, and Self-Discovery.
In addition to the summit sessions, participants will have the chance to interact with various agencies and community organizations in the Exhibit Hall. This segment is dedicated to connecting attendees with additional resources and supportive networks.
