The University of the Virgin Islands is set to celebrate its 62nd Charter Day anniversary with a month-long series of events. This annual celebration marks the establishment of the University and showcases its significant contributions and achievements over the years.

The festivities this year will encompass a wide range of activities, including the traditional Afternoon on the Green, the 13D Innovation Center’s Business Leadership Lecture, alumni gatherings, musical events, sports competitions, and engaging activities for students.

UVI President Dr. David Hall extended an open invitation to the public to participate in commemorating UVI's 62nd anniversary, highlighting the university's journey from its inception to its current status. "This year, I will celebrate 15 years of service to this venerable institution. I feel blessed to be a part of UVI’s transformative story and to have played a part, along with many others, in its contributions to the Virgin Islands and to the region," Hall expressed. He also commended the UVI students and alumni for their role in driving positive change both locally and globally.

The celebration will begin with Alumni and Retiree Soirees on Friday, March 8, at the 13D Research & Strategy Innovation Center on St. Thomas and on Saturday, March 9, at the Medical Simulation Center on St. Croix. The official Charter Day Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, March 15, at the LaVerne E. Ragster Administration and Conference Center on the Orville E. Kean Campus in St. Thomas, with a live stream available at the Great Hall on the Albert A. Sheen Campus in St. Croix.

A highlight of the Charter Day events is the keynote address by Dr. Dietra Trent, the executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), emphasizing UVI's dedication to excellence in education and student opportunity. Additionally, UVI Music Director Dion Parson and jazz trombonist Steve Turre will perform, bringing a unique musical experience to the attendees.
