ST. THOMAS — The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) has announced a Request for Proposals (RFP T2025 001) seeking qualified Architectural and Engineering (A&E) firms for a major infrastructure mitigation effort on its St. Thomas campus. The initiative, officially titled “UVI STT Generator Elevation,” is funded under Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) Project #4340-0132.
The project’s objective is to elevate and safeguard critical power systems—including a 15kV, 2000KW generator—against potential damage from natural disasters. The scope of work includes engineering analysis and design feasibility, land surveying, Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) reviews, technical feasibility studies, permitting, and cost-effectiveness evaluations.
Key components of the project involve the elevation of wind-rated concrete enclosures, mounting pads, transformers, and a transfer switch to ensure continuity of power and operations before, during, and after emergency events.
