The Office of Management & Budget has issued a reminder to the public regarding the upcoming deadline for applications to the Social Security Stipend. The portal will close on Friday, July 7, with no new registration cases being accepted thereafter, whether online, via email, or in-person.
Since the portal's inception on June 5, 2023, more than 1100 applications were received and 800 were approved and forwarded to the Department of Finance for the next stage of processing.
Those looking to secure their benefits are advised to complete their registration promptly by visiting www.omb.vi.gov. It's crucial to upload the following documents to ensure smooth processing:
- A USVI Photo Identification, displaying the full legal name. This could be a Driver’s License, a local Government-Issued ID Card, a Senior Citizen ID Card, or a Voters Registration Card.
- A Social Security Card.
- A copy of a monthly social security payment statement or IRS Form SSA-1099 displaying Social Security benefits received prior to October 1, 2022.
- A current and complete Virgin Islands mailing address.
As of the time of the press release, all web submission cases have been processed, according to OMB. Residents are encouraged to monitor their emails to ensure that all their required documents have been successfully received by the OMB office. Following case approval, applicants should allow a period of 4-6 weeks for their checks to be dispatched via the U.S. Postal Service to the provided mailing address.
OMB Director Jenifer O’Neal expressed appreciation for the community’s patience, acknowledging that meticulous review and navigation of the process takes time, but assuring that every effort is being made for prompt processing.
To keep up with any updates, recipients are advised to regularly monitor local news and media platforms or visit the Agency’s website at https://omb.vi.gov. Importantly, it has been stressed that recipients do not need to personally visit the OMB offices to provide any information.
For any inquiries or concerns, the public can reach out via email at [email protected].
