Territory’s First Baby of 2025 Born at Midnight on New Year’s Day

Baby Aitana, weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces, was born at 12:00 a.m. on January 1st at Juan F. Luis Hospital. The St. Croix community marked the milestone with gifts and donations

While others were popping champagne and blowing into noisemakers to celebrate the arrival of 2025, Dorgelis Mujica Cambero and Audu Pereza Exteves were welcoming their beautiful baby girl Aitana.

Baby Aitana was the first birth in the territory for 2025, arriving at 12:00 a.m. on January 1st, according to a press release from the Juan F. Luis hospital. The healthy baby girl weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces upon her arrival. 

The St. Croix community welcomed baby Aitana with small gifts and donations from the hospital and private sector entities to commemorate the milestone birth. 

“Moments like these remind us of the importance of family, community, and our role in ensuring the best possible start in life for the youngest members of our community,” said JFL.
