ST. CROIX — The V.I. Department of Public Works has clarified the contact information for the Strand Street Government Parking Lot and outlined the facility’s parking rates, payment requirements and rules for motorists.

In an update dated July 10, 2026, DPW advised that all questions and concerns regarding the Christiansted parking lot should be directed to its St. Croix office at 340-773-1290.

The office is available during regular business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

DPW said a dedicated 24-hour hotline for the parking lot will be announced. Until then, residents are being asked to use the St. Croix office number for all inquiries.

Under the parking rate schedule, the first 15 minutes are free. Parking from 16 minutes through one hour costs $2, and each additional hour also costs $2.

The maximum daily rate is $10. The regular monthly rate is $160, while the monthly government rate is $100. A lost ticket carries a $10 charge.

The lot operates under a “ONE TICKET IN = ONE TICKET OUT.” policy.

Motorists must present their ticket to the cashier before leaving the parking lot. The cashier will not accept bills larger than $20, and a penalty ticket will be issued when payment has not been made by 7:00 p.m.

DPW also advised motorists that they park at their own risk. The department is not responsible for vehicles that are stolen or damaged while at the facility.

Abandoned vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense and will carry a $1,000 fee.

Additional information is available through the DPW St. Croix office at 340-773-1290 or through the department’s website at dpw.vi.gov.
