Supervisor of Elections Caroline Fawkes has announced that the list of inactive voters registered in the St. Thomas/St. John District has now been published.
Voters residing in the district who have not cast ballots in two consecutive general elections were made inactive by the elections supervisor, in accordance with prevailing law. The list of such persons is currently available at the elections offices on both islands – upstairs of the Lockhart Garden Banco Popular on St. Thomas, and the Marketplace Suite II on St. John. The list can also be perused online.
Voters marked inactive can update their registration status at any time before 7:00 p.m. on Election Day to receive a ballot. However, they must complete an affirmation of current and continuous residence before being allowed to vote. This affirmation will declare to the Supervisor of Elections whether the individual resides at the same address as indicated at the time of registration, at a different address in the same district, or in another district within the territory.
Inactive voters who go through the affirmation process and ultimately cast their ballots will then be marked as active.
