St. Joseph Church on St. Croix, which was designated to replace the Central High School Modular Gymnasium as an Election Day voting center after the gym’s air-conditioning system failed.
ST. CROIX — The St. Joseph Church Hospitality Lounge will replace the Central High School Modular Gymnasium as an Election Day voting center for Saturday’s primary because the gym’s air-conditioning system is not functioning.
The Elections System of the Virgin Islands said the failed air-conditioning system made the Central High facility unsuitable for use as a voting center. St. Joseph Church was selected as the replacement to provide a safe and comfortable environment for voters and election workers.
The three Election Day voting centers on St. Croix will be the D.C. Canegata Recreation Center, St. Joseph Church Hospitality Lounge and Claude O. Markoe Elementary School Auditorium.
All voting centers will operate Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters who are in line when the centers close will be permitted to cast their ballots.
The Elections System said signs will be placed at the Central High School Modular Gymnasium to inform voters about the locations available on Election Day.
The agency apologized for any inconvenience caused by the change and thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation.
