The vibrant spirit of the Virgin Islands will make waves on a global stage as the St. Croix Educational Complex High School Cheerleading Squad gets ready to compete in the World High School Cheerleading Competition (WSCC) in Orlando, Florida.

A team of 12 athletes accompanied by their coaches will showcase their skills at the ESPN Center in Walt Disney World starting February 7.

The first performance serves as an exhibition, with the competition itself slated for Sunday, February 11. The SCEC squad is expected to demonstrate the results of a rigorous training regimen under the guidance of coaches Dr. Dana Philogene-Victor, Aniah John, and Essi Gaston-Edwards. David Adam Stafford, a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the cheerleading industry, has provided specialized training to the cheerleaders. 

The team consists of SCEC students Azariah Providence, Kristina Horsford, Dainya Simmonds, Aniyah Williams, Melanie Lewis, Se’Kaijah Freeman, Zahaira Cromwell, Terrise Mitchell, Jaelyn Bailey, Nayelis St. Omer, J’Neolise Green, and Azirah Mingo. Each member of the team brings a unique blend of talent, dedication, and spirit to the squad, embodying the essence of Virgin Islands pride.

As the countdown to the competition begins, anticipation is running high among the team members and supporters alike. With their sights set on victory, the SCEC High School Cheerleading Squad seems ready to captivate audiences with dynamic performances which  showcase the talent and spirit of the Virgin Islands.
