ST. CROIX — The V.I. Dept. of Education has announced the immediate dismissal of several schools due to an unexpected electrical service interruption by the Water and Power Authority.
The affected schools include Alfredo Andrews, Eulalie Rivera, Claude O. Markoe, Central High School, and the St. Croix Educational Complex.
Private school Free Will Baptist has also announced early dismissal.
Parents and guardians have been urged to arrange for the pickup of their children, as bus transportation services will be operating on a staggered schedule due to the power outage.
The V.I. Water and Power Authority issued a statement notifying the public of a significant electrical service interruption affecting all customers in the St. Croix district. This disruption has been attributed to a loss of generation capacity at the Estate Richmond Power Station.
