Schneider Regional Medical Center has announced an extension of its Bill Amnesty Program, offering patients more time to take advantage of significant savings on overdue medical bills. Initially scheduled to end sooner, the program will now run through November 30, 2024.

Tina Comissiong, CEO of SRMC, spoke of the hospital's commitment to easing the financial strain on patients. "We are extending the bill amnesty program to give every patient the opportunity to bring their accounts up to date, alleviate some of their financial burden, while securing significant savings," she said. Comissiong also highlighted SRMC's efforts to contact patients with updated billing statements and urged those uncertain about their account status to reach out to the hospital for assistance.

Under the program, patients who settle their outstanding balances in full by the November 30 deadline will receive a 50% discount. For those unable to pay in full, SRMC is offering an alternative—patients can enroll in a 12-month payment plan and still receive a 20% discount. These payment options are part of the hospital's broader effort to support patients and their families in managing medical expenses.

"The funds collected through this amnesty program will ensure we have the resources necessary to continue providing safe, reliable care to everyone who depends on SRMC for their healthcare," added Comissiong, reinforcing the program's importance not only for patients but for the hospital’s financial health as well.

Patients interested in taking part in the Bill Amnesty Program are encouraged to contact SRMC at (340) 776-8311 (press 0 for the operator and ask for the Business Office), or visit the Business Office on the second floor of the Roy L. Schneider Hospital during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SRMC urged those with outstanding balances to act quickly to take advantage of the offer before it expires at the end of November.
