According to the release, the East End Road from the Bypass Traffic Lights on Hospital Street toward the Christiansted town, along with Company Street and the Time Square Intersection onto Hill Street and King Street will be closed.

The closure is from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

"We are concerned of overzealous attendees acting up after two years of limited social outlets during the coronavirus pandemic," said St. Croix Police Chief Sean Santos. "We want you to have fun, but if you drink, celebrate responsibly."

He said the V.I.P.D. will have high visibility and checkpoints to ensure the public’s safety. "Your safety is paramount," the chief said.

The last St. Patrick's Day parade on St. Croix held in 2019, as the 2020 event was canceled weeks before it was scheduled to be held as a result of the Covid19 pandemic.
