Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach. By. V.I. CONSORTIUM

Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach departed the U.S. Virgin Islands on Sunday to participate in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Summer National Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, his office has announced.

The NAIC plays an important role in establishing insurance standards and overseeing regulatory practices within the insurance industry.

As the commissioner of Insurance for the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mr. Roach is a member of the NAIC Southeast (SE) Zone, which includes 12 states and two U.S. territories—Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. His involvement in the NAIC helps ensure that the territory represented in discussions about insurance regulations and industry standards.

Mr. Governor's attendance at the annual NAIC conferences and meetings is entirely funded by the NAIC, according to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. These meetings, which are scheduled throughout the year in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, provide a platform for participants to discuss state affairs, receive updates on federal policies, and engage in regulatory planning sessions.

Mr. Roach is expected to return to the territory on Friday, August 16. In his absence, Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr., will assume the duties of lieutenant governor, as mandated by the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands.
