Kameron Peter Rondon

A hiker exploring the North Carolina wilderness made a grim discovery on January 23, finding a human skull near Burrell Mountain. The individual immediately reported the find to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, prompting an initial search of the area.

Days later, during a second search, additional human remains were discovered, according to The NC Beat. Authorities have since identified the remains as those of Kameron Peter Rondon. The cause of death remains undetermined, and the investigation is ongoing.

Rondon, who was not listed as a missing person, had a connection to the U.S. Virgin Islands. In 2002, as a young athlete, he traveled with the Peacemakers soccer team to Florida to represent the Virgin Islands at the Disney Spring Holiday Soccer Festival.

More than twenty years later, his death remains a mystery. Family members have been contacted regarding the tragic development, as authorities work to uncover what led to Rondon’s death.
