The second annual Kids’ Health IQ Expo is coming up next month, and Cane Bay Cares has announced that registration is open for the event.
Designed for children aged 9 to 12 years old, the expo – under the theme “My Amazing Body” – will offer children “practical and fun ways to stay healthy and active,” according to a media announcement.
Apart from taking in exciting presentations from healthcare workers and educators about different parts of the body and how they function, children will work together in a series of health/fitness team challenges.
The final challenge is the “Supermarket Sweep” style scavenger hunt in which participants can win up to $100. The items collected during the scavenger hunt will then be donated to a local charity. Janella Simon, charitable giving director for Cane Bay Cares, said that the success of 2022’s expo – and the popularity of the scavenger hunt, which she says was last year’s favorite activity – convinced the organization to make it an annual event. “In addition to learning about food and nutrition, they learn about money management and community involvement as well,” Ms. Simon remarked.
The Expo, which will be held at The Market St. Croix on September 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., is limited to a maximum of 50 participants, so interested parents are encouraged to register their children early. People can sign up online until November 3.
Cane Bay Cares is the philanthropic arm of Cane Bay Partners LLC, and currently focuses on education as a vehicle for economic development.
