Sixteen individuals joined the law enforcement ranks in earnest during a ceremony in St. Thomas on Wednesday, adding much-needed help to a police force that is always in need of additional employees.
"Today's graduation ceremony demonstrates selfless commitment and courage of each recruit. It is with sincere gratitude that I salute your efforts in taking on the charge of our respective departments and agencies. These are unprecedented times that will require new strategies and procedures as we are faced with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic," said Acting Governor Tregenza Roach. "To the men and women of Peace Officer Recruit Class 2020-1, thank you for your willingness to be of service. You will be faced with daily challenges that will call for you to rely not only on your professional training, but also on your compassion for others. We remain confident that your executed duties and professional contributions will positively impact the people of the Virgin Islands."
A self-same event for recruits on St. Croix will be held in the coming days.
