The Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle announced it has donated 80 QOMO Qview HD Document Cameras to the St. Croix District of the Department of Education. The document cameras, worth $15,000, will be distributed to public school teachers on St. Croix.

“In place of the annual grants which were not practical due to Covid-19 changes, the [D.O.E. St. Croix District Superintendent, Carlos McGregor and his team] suggested document cameras," said Rotarian Willard John, chair of the Captains of Education Teacher Grant Program. "The cameras are effective practical tools that will enable teachers to clearly display documents to students as they embark on a virtual teaching and learning experience.”

The Captains of Education Teacher Grants are made possible through an annual donation from Diageo, according to the release.

The rotary club, citing the device's manufacturer documentation, said the QOMO QPC20 is a lightweight document camera that can be easily set up anywhere. Its slim design plus its folding arm enables you to carry it anywhere effortlessly. The QPC20 features a 5.0 Megapixel camera, a frame rate of 30 frames per second, and a display area of the size of a A4 paper. It can also capture images and videos. All you have to do is connect the QPC20 to your pc, and start capturing.

The capture software is included in the package. Also included is the viewing pad. The viewing pad is a convenient feature on which you can place the documents to be presented. The QPC20's arm has a built in camera and ultra bright LED lights. The arm can be lowered to zoom into the object. The QOMO Qview QPC20 is an affordable portable document camera that can be set up anywhere and is PC and Mac compatible.

"We hope this donation will make virtual teaching easier for our teachers and virtual learning easier for our youngsters," said Club President Jennifer Koockogey. "Everyone's lives have been negatively impacted by Covid-19 especially teachers and students.  Hopefully these cameras will relieve some of the stress of virtual teaching and learning."
