ST. CROIX — The festive season in St. Croix is set to sparkle with the annual Christmas Boat Parade scheduled for Saturday, December 9. As island residents and visitors alike prepare to throng the Christiansted boardwalk, the V.I. Police Department has announced specific parking restrictions and roadblocks to ensure the event's smooth operation.
In anticipation of the eagerly awaited parade, which marks a highlight of St. Croix's festive season, the VIPD has implemented the following measures:
-
No parking will be allowed on Queen Cross Street, stretching from Riddims to the Caravelle Casino, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight). This restriction is put in place to facilitate vendor setup.
-
King Street will also see a no-parking rule in effect from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight), extending from the Florence Williams Library to Government House, and including the area from Strand Lane (Purple Papaya) to King Street.
To further manage the flow of traffic and ensure safety, roads will be blocked off from the corner of King Street and King Cross Street (the Library), starting at 11:00 a.m. sharp until midnight. Only vendors and officials working with the Boat Parade Committee will be granted entry during this period.
The Christmas Boat Parade is a beloved tradition in St. Croix, drawing thousands of spectators to the Christiansted boardwalk. It offers a unique experience with beautifully decorated boats lighting up the night, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.
The VIPD thanked the public for their cooperation in adhering to these measures, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone participating in the holiday festivities.
