The V.I. Department of Human Services announced Sunday that Virgin Islanders should not expect to receive Pandemic EBT funds in October. The U.S. Dept. of Human Services had received approval from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service, for the implementation of emergency P-EBT funds to be deployed as a one-time issuance, the local D.H.S. explained Sunday.
D.H.S. also reminded that the issuance was "not a monthly benefit."
"There was no guarantee that a second round of P-EBT benefits would be issued for the 2020/2021 school year. However, because most schools started the year virtually and without school lunch programs up and running, a second issuance was granted for August and September. No issuance has been approved or announced for October by the federal agencies," D.H.S. said.
D.H.S. said its Head Start program and the V.I. Department of Education have announced meal distribution schedules that are now active.
