Our Town Frederiksted, Inc. (OTF), a community-based nonprofit organization, has opened the application cycle for its 2025 Frederiksted Housing Ecosystem Program, offering financial support to eligible property owners in downtown Frederiksted who are working to rehabilitate residential buildings.

According to a release issued Wednesday, the program is designed to boost the town’s affordable housing inventory through the provision of low-interest loans and grants. Property owners in need of less than $15,000 to complete residential renovations are encouraged to apply.

Shomari Moorehead, president of Our Town Frederiksted, noted the importance of accessible financial resources in sustaining the town’s long-term revitalization efforts. “This low interest loan-grant program allows OTF to continue its proud tradition of providing financial assistance to downtown property owners,” he stated. “We recognize that the ongoing revitalization of our town relies on the presence of residents through the addition of affordable residential properties. These funds are expected to help property owners cross the finish line to bring their residential spaces online.”

The funds may be used for a range of improvements, including roofing work, plumbing and electrical upgrades, both interior and exterior repairs, and accessibility modifications aimed at accommodating diverse housing needs.

To be considered for the program, applicants must submit documentation demonstrating proof of ownership or site control, a clear financial need, and a written statement detailing how their project will contribute to increasing affordable housing in Frederiksted. Applications can be accessed and submitted online at www.ourtownfrederiksted.org, with a firm deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

This initiative is made possible with support from Enterprise Community Partners, a national nonprofit that provides funding and expertise to community-based housing programs across the United States.
