ST. CROIX — The local Nu Chi Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, took a monumental stride on Monday as they hosted their 13th annual "Put Your Feet in Pink" breast cancer awareness march. The event began at 8am at the Claude O. Markoe Elementary School in Frederiksted and saw passionate participants walking and dancing down Strand Street, all the way to the Eliza McBean clock tower.

Upon reaching the clock tower, a heartfelt program began, commemorating cancer survivors, acknowledging current fighters, and honoring the memory of those who lost their battle to the disease.
Adding color and creativity to Monday's event was an awareness art display, featuring a t-shirt and shoe competition. The day's activities culminated in a poignant ceremony, where attendees offered prayers and wishes for recovery. As a symbol of their support and remembrance, they placed biodegradable pink flowers along the shoreline.
As with the previous 12 marches, the proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Yvonne A. Galiber (YAG) Foundation Inc. and Ribbons for a Cure Inc. Both of these local organizations ardently advocate for cancer awareness and deliver invaluable support to individuals grappling with the disease.

The Nu Chi Zeta chapter continues to emphasize its commitment to this yearly event as an integral part of the Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) National Program. Through this initiative, the sorority aims to foster partnerships with both local and national groups, with the ultimate goal of nourishing the mind, body, and spirit. The program holds particular significance for women, youth, men, and international women of color.
