NOTICE | Public Invited to Attend Hearing on Proposed Repairs, Replacements and Relocation of Early Warning Siren System

The Department of Planning and Natural Resources announces that pursuant to Virgin Islands Rules and Regulations, Title 12, Chapter 21, Section 904-9, an application for Federal Consistency Determination, CZT-04-21(FC), has been submitted by the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency. The project proposes to repair and replace the Early Warning Siren System within the St. Thomas/Water Island District from damage sustained during the 2017 Hurricanes. The project involves the relocation of five (5) siren sites. Those sites are Schneider Regional Medical Center, Dorothea Fire Station, Catherineberg, DPNR Boat Yard (Subbase) which are all located on St. Thomas and Catchment Hill which is located on Water Island, Virgin Islands.

All persons interested are invited to be present and heard at the scheduled Public Meeting on the proposed project which begins on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. In an effort to help to reduce the global spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), this meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Zoom. Properly signed statements concerning the proposed project, addressed to the undersigned, will become part of the hearing record. Written statements must be submitted by November 3, 2021, via email to [email protected]

Further, plans for the proposed project are on file for review by appointment only at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Division of Coastal Zone Management, located at 4611 Tutu Park Mall Suite# 300, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands (340) 774-3320, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., except holidays.
