On Saturday night My Brother’s Workshop (MBW) will be hosting its 4th annual "Mystery" fundraiser event in a virtual setting to raise funds whose use will be to improve the Virgin Islands by “providing hope, faith and purpose to at-risk and high-risk young people” in the territory.

The event will take place from 7-9 p.m., with the "Guessing the Criminal" game being the main attraction. There will also be a silent auction that has already began, a live auction the night of the event, and additional prizes to be won. The Mystery event raised over $66,000 in 2020.

This year's theme will be “Mystery in A Toga”, and My Brother’s Workshop expects it to be “an interactive evening of fun where a staged mystery takes place and the attendees must determine who among them is the culprit. It’s like a live action game of clue!” according to the nonprofit's website.

Auction items include but are not limited to boat trips, jewelry, art, restaurant gift cards and a pair of signed boxing gloves by father and son Virgin Islands boxing duo Julian “The Hawk” Jackson and Julius “The Chef” Jackson.

My Brother’s Workshop is a nonprofit Virgin Islands charitable organization. Statistics on the organization's website show that 75 percent of trainees did not have a high school diploma when they first enrolled, 60 percent of trainees were previously involved in juvenile justice programs, 35 percent of trainees were previously gang involved, 65 percent of trainees have either a physical disability or learning disability, and 10 percent of trainers were homeless when they first came to My Brother’s Workshop.

MBW defines success as either obtaining employment, furthering education or enrolling in the military. Over 75 percent of persons that start the MBW program are considered a success by these standards. Since its inception in 2007, MBW has reached “1,200 youth and counting,” according to its website.

The event is sponsored by Cruzan Rum, HMRT, Heavy Materials, Calypso Realty, Caribbean Risk Group, Kellerhals Ferguson Kroblin PLLC, St. Thomas Reformed Church, Art Uncorked, Seas the Day Charters, Midnight Sun Boat Charters, and Local Legend Charters.
