Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stifle Kansas City Chiefs
Tom Brady extended his already legend status to new heights after he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the victory gave Mr. Brady "his record seventh Super Bowl title in a battle of generational greats that saw Brady once again reaching the pinnacle of his sport and Mahomes laboring to stay upright."
WSJ said, "This Super Bowl attendance was 24,835 fans, just a fraction of full capacity. There were 7,500 vaccinated health-care workers in attendance, in addition to cardboard cutouts occupying seats that usually cost thousands of dollars. Coaches, and even players, were masked on the sideline."
Shock in Trinidad After Kidnapping Victim Found Dead
Trinidadians expressed shock, fear and outrage after the discovery of Andrea Bharrat, who was missing for a week before she was found dead.
On Friday, Jan. 29 Bharrat boarded a taxi along with a co-worker, and while the companion was safely dropped off at her residence, Bharrat never made it home. Her father reported her disappearance to police after an ominous conversation with a man who answered Bharrat's cellphone and demanded money in exchange for Bharrat's safety.
She was found dead Thursday afternoon in a precipice.
VI Residents to Receive More Stimulus Cash
Just as Virgin Islanders start receiving $600 in additional direct stimulus payments from the coronavirus relief package passed in December, along with other forms of help including funding for rent assistance, the territory's residents are closer to receiving even more stimulus dollars to the tune of $1,400 per individual along with a $3,000 child tax credit, as the Biden administration and Democrats in both the House and Senate ram through Mr. Biden's aid bill with zero Republican support.
St. Thomas Native to Feature in Top 5 NCAAW Basketball Nationally Televised Match-Up
St. Thomas native Aliyah Boston and No. 2/1 South Carolina (15-1) will take on No. 3/No.5 Connecticut (12-1) on Fox Sports 1 at 8 p.m AST on Monday. Boston has been averaging a double-double in her sophomore year campaign with 13.7 points and 11.3 rebounds to go along with 2.9 blocks per game this season.
In other news, the media is now allowed to return to in-person press briefings at Gov't House after almost a year of being barred; the V.I.P.D. shuts down a St. John command center for deep cleaning after officers tested positive for Covid-19; nonprofit Equally American is urging the House Committee on Ways and Means to include support for the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa in the Supplemental Security Income program; and local officials have yet to decide on future of St. Thomas-St. John public medical facilities.
