Man Visiting From Massachusetts Reportedly Drowns in Trunk Bay, St. John

Trunk Bay, St. John

ST. JOHN — A man visiting the territory from Massachusetts was pronounced dead at the Myrah Keating Clinic in St. John following an incident at Trunk Bay on Sunday.

According to the V.I. Police Department, on Sunday police officers were dispatched to Trunk Bay in reference to a possible drowning at 12:23p.m. Upon arrival, officers made contact with personnel from the Emergency Medical Services who attempted to resuscitate the victim while traveling to the Myrah Keating Clinic.

The white male victim, identified by next of kin as 57-year-old Chris Finn, was pronounced dead at 1:49 p.m. Sunday by the medical attendant at the Myrah Keating Clinic.

According to police, the son of the deceased stated that he observed his father struggling to swim while snorkeling near the small island off Trunk Bay. Upon observation, he and others in the water assisted his father to shore on a long board.
