Man Found Dead in Water at Lindbergh Bay; Identity and Cause of Death Unknown

ST. THOMAS — Authorities are investigating after an unidentified man was found dead in the water at Lindbergh Bay Beach Sunday morning.

At approximately 7:47 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted the V.I. Port Authority after spotting what appeared to be a body in the water, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Port Authority officers responded and confirmed that an individual was in the water. Officers, assisted by people along the shoreline, removed the man from the water.

VIPD detectives subsequently arrived and found the man unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and determined that he showed no signs of life.

Police said the man’s identity remained unknown as of Sunday, and authorities had not yet determined how he died. An autopsy is expected to assist investigators in establishing the cause of death.

VIPD has not indicated whether there were any signs of foul play, and the circumstances surrounding how the man entered the water remain under investigation.
