Lockhart K-8 School on St. Thomas has resumed normal operations Monday following a lockdown due to a reported threat on Monday.
The V.I. Police Department received a 911 call alerting them to a potential threat involving a student allegedly in possession of a loaded weapon on campus.
Upon notification, the V.I. Department of Education and the school administration promptly implemented lockdown procedures to protect students, faculty, and staff, according to a release from D.O.E. The VIPD conducted an exhaustive search of the school premises.
After a thorough safety inspection by the VIPD, Lockhart K-8 School was given the all clear. No threat was found, and the school community was assured of their safety, allowing educational activities to continue without further interruption.
Authorities have confirmed that the VIPD will continue to investigate the incident to fully understand the reported threat and take appropriate measures.
