Liberty VI has announced the commencement of road restoration work on Nicholas Friday Memorial Drive, commonly known as Red Hook Road, in St. Thomas. The project is a key component of Liberty VI’s Fiber to the Home (FTTH) initiative, aimed at delivering high-speed internet access to all homes and businesses across the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The roadwork will begin on Thursday, January 16, and is projected to take ten workdays to complete. Work hours are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to minimize disruptions during school hours. However, lane and partial road closures are expected, potentially causing delays for residents and drivers. Liberty VI has advised the community to exercise caution when traveling through the area.

Residents and businesses within the Red Hook community are encouraged to park their vehicles on their properties to avoid obstructions or potential damage. The work will extend approximately 5,200 feet along Red Hook Road, encompassing the restoration of a new micro-trench line and repairs to the existing fiber core route.

“This road surface restoration work is important for this area. We will have 10 days of inconvenience, yet in the end, we will have a better road to travel on,” said Ravindra Maywahlall, General Manager of Liberty VI.

Liberty VI will provide ongoing updates about the project on its website to help residents plan their daily commutes.
