The Liberty Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Liberty Communications and Liberty Mobile USVI, announced Tuesday that it gave a $50,000 grant to the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands to support education, arts and culture, environmental protection, and social wellbeing in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The fund was subdivided to six organizations that focus on our four pillars of corporate responsibility: learning, environment, access, and disaster relief, according to the release.
Boys and Girls Clubs STTJ (St. Thomas/St. John)
$20,000 to host a multi-disciplinary summer camp program for children residing in the Oswald Harris Court housing community and surrounding areas.
UVI Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service (St. Thomas)
$10,000 to support mangrove restoration efforts in St. Thomas.
Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts (St. Croix)
$10,000 to host a theater and music arts summer camp program for children in the Marley Homes, Walter I.M. Hodge (Sufferelli) Housing Community, Fritz Lawaetz Housing Complex, and surrounding areas.
Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands’ Queen Louise Home for Children (St. Croix)
$3,750 to support residential foster care for children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected.
Nana Baby Children’s Home (St. Thomas/St. John)
$3,750 to provide 24-hour care to children in crisis, and a home for children in need (newborn to 12 years old).
Virgin Islands Volunteer Advocates for Children (St. Croix)
$2,500 to operate child advocacy programming to benefit children in foster care.
