The V.I. Dept. of Education has announced that John H. Woodson Jr. High School will resume in-person classes on Thursday following an abrupt closure due to a burst water pipe.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, led to early student dismissal and a temporary halt of the school's water services after the facility experienced significant flooding.
Maintenance teams conducted a detailed assessment of the damage and have successfully repaired the pipe, allowing the school to reopen. The department has expressed gratitude for the patience and support from parents, students, faculty, and staff during the unexpected closure and has reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of the school community.
VIDE also highlighted the challenges of managing school operations amidst natural events and infrastructural issues in aging facilities.
