Rainfall in Gallows Bay, St. Croix on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020.

Due to the projection of inclement weather across the territory, Veterans Day motorcades planned for St. Croix and St. Thomas on Wednesday have been cancelled, the V.I. Office of Veterans Affairs has announced.

Significant rain accumulation started to affect the territory in the early evening hours of Monday November. As of early Tuesday afternoon, showers were still present across the territory and heavy rainfall continued early Wednesday.

Additionally, the inclement weather is projected to continue at least through Wednesday evening.

According to the release, the cancellation of these motorcades will not interrupt the intent of Governor Bryan, Lt. Governor Roach, and the Office of Veterans Affairs to honor designated Veterans of the Virgin Islands this year. "At a later identified date, all three Veterans will be invited to Government House for a more personal recognition of their service to country," the release stated.

The following Virgin Islanders were selected as honorees for their selfless service in their respective districts this year:

  • Oscar R. James Sr. – St. John
  • Romeo A. Malone – St. Thomas
  • Abraham Hewitt – St. Croix
