The V.I. Department of Human Services announced Monday that the Head Start Program will return to full in-person classroom instruction on Thursday, January 27 across the territory.

“We are all ready to welcome our little ones back into classrooms, but out of an abundance of caution, we cannot do that until all students and staff are Covid tested," stated D.H.S. Commissioner Kimberley Causey-Gomez. "Individuals who are confirmed positive must take the necessary steps to take care of their health and return to classrooms when it is safe for them to do so. Head Start staff and families are asked to report positive results to the appropriate Head Start personnel. A COVID negative test will be required prior to returning."

According to the release, drive-thru and walk-up testing for all Head Start students and employees have been arranged through the V.I. Department of Health on Wednesday, 26 January from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at DC Canegata Community Center on St. Croix, and at the Old Cinema on St. Thomas.

Persons may also choose to access testing from private providers, D.H.S. said.
