ST. CROIX — A tragic discovery was made yesterday when police were called to a home at North Street in Christiansted, where they found the body of a 33-year-old man in an advanced stage of decomposition.

At approximately 4:29 pm on April 17, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call requesting police assistance. Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased male, identified as Ade E. Raphael, in a seated position on the floor with a cloth belt tightly wrapped around his neck.

Born on April 27, 1989, Raphael was 5 feet 10 inches tall with brown eyes. A next of kin confirmed his identity at the scene.

The community has been left shocked and saddened by the news, with many expressing their condolences to the family of the deceased.

The deceased's father, businessman Sam Raphael, took to social media to talk about the loss of his son. He also thanked the community for their sharing consoling remarks.

"My family and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your thoughtfulness as we cope with the loss of our beloved Ade Edward Raphael," he wrote on Facebook. "Those who knew him will attest to his many gifts and talents, his kindness and his magnetic spirit. After suffering immeasurable pain for the past eight years he transitioned to the realm of his ancestors where there is no pain. Though his life among us was short lived will are comforted in the knowledge that he left a lasting legacy among everyone he came into contact with and also knowing that he will no longer suffer. Thanks again for your love and kindness."
