Governor’s Office Publishes 105-Entry Abandoned Vehicle List; Owners Given 72 Hours to Act

The Office of the Governor has now published a 105-entry list of tagged abandoned, derelict and hazardous vehicles. Last registered owners have 72 hours from the notice placed on each vehicle to correct the violation or face liens, fines and added fees.

The Office of the Governor, through the Office of the Administrator, is moving to remove abandoned, derelict and hazardous vehicles across the territory, warning last registered owners that they have 72 hours from the date a notice is placed on their vehicle to correct the violation.

Owners who fail to act within that period could face liens, fines and additional fees. The government said liens will be placed against the last recorded owners through the V.I. Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Responsibility for removing an abandoned vehicle rests with its last registered owner. Once a vehicle is tagged, it is placed on an official list containing the recorded owner’s name, the location of the vehicle, its make, model, color and license plate number.

The current notice contains 105 entries. Recorded owners whose names appear on the list are asked to contact the Office of the Administrator at 340-693-4316 or 340-774-0001 for assistance.
