Frett-Gregory Honored with 2023 National Shining Star Award by N.O.B.E.L. Women

Senator Donna A. Frett-Gregory has been celebrated as a 2023 National Shining Star Award honoree by the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative (N.O.B.E.L.) Women, Ms. Frett-Gregory's office has announced. The organization conferred the honor during its annual legislative conference held on June 23, 2023.

The National Shining Star Award is designed to acknowledge women who have made a significant contribution to their communities. Sen. Frett-Gregory earned the nomination due to her unwavering dedication to civic engagement, philanthropy, and her influence on governmental relations.

Reacting to the award, Frett-Gregory, the former Senate president and current chair of the powerful Committee on Budget, Appropriation and Finance, stated, "I am both humbled and elated by this recognition. My legislative and community work is fueled by my love for my people, not with any expectation of acknowledgment."

N.O.B.E.L. Women has a rich history of addressing the needs of communities across the nation through the efforts of its members. The senator expressed her appreciation to the organization and her peers, "Being recognized by women leaders from across the nation serves as a reminder that there are others rising every day, working to build better communities. I thank those who nominated and voted for me on this national platform," she said.

Frett-Gregory recognized her fellow honorees, commenting, "Congratulations to the other women who shared the stage with me as 2023 Shining Star Honorees; Ms. Symone Sanders, Ms. Yolanda-Cash, Esq., and Ms. Paula Hoisington."

Founded in 1985, N.O.B.E.L. Women is a non-profit, non-partisan organization primarily composed of current and former black women legislators along with numerous appointed officials. It stands as the premier organization dedicated to augmenting and promoting the presence of Black women in government, non-profit, and corporate leadership in the United States.

Over the years, N.O.B.E.L. Women has expanded its mission to serve as a global voice addressing a broad range of issues affecting the lives of all women. The organization annually celebrates the accomplishments of such women at its Shining Star Gala.
