Four-Year-Old Boy Dies From Gunshot Wound on St. Croix; Major Crime Unit Investigating

VIPD is investigating the death of a four-year-old boy who suffered a gunshot wound Thursday evening on St. Croix. The child was taken to Juan F. Luis Hospital but died despite emergency treatment, and no determination has yet been made in the matter.

ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department is investigating the death of a four-year-old boy who sustained a gunshot wound Thursday evening, with the Major Crime Unit working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center was notified at 7:01 p.m. on July 16.

The child was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, he died from his injuries.

Police said no determination has been made at this stage of the investigation.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
