First African American Woman U.S. Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, Set to Visit Territory Feb. 25

ST. CROIX — Chief Judge of the District Court, Wilma A. Lewis has invited the general public to “An Evening with Loretta E. Lynch, 83rd Attorney General of the United States” on Tuesday, February 25 at 6:30 p.m., at the Almeric L. Christian Federal Building and Courthouse on St. Croix. There is no admission fee to attend.

Ms. Lynch was the first African-American female Attorney General of the United States in U.S. history. Confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 23, 2015, Ms. Lynch served as Attorney General until January 20, 2017. Prior thereto, Ms. Lynch served on two occasions as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, from 1999 to 2001 and from 2010 to 2015, respectively, and in private practice as a partner with Hogan and Hartson (now Hogan Lovells) from 2001 to 2010. Ms. Lynch is currently a litigation partner with the law firm of Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison in New York.

Visit the District Court’s website at www.vid.uscourts.gov for registration information. The registration deadline is February 12, 2020. Space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and will close once maximum capacity is reached. Registration forms are also available at the District Court Clerk’s Offices at the Almeric L. Christian Federal Building and Courthouse on St. Croix and the Ron de Lugo Federal Building and Courthouse on St. Thomas.

No Cell Phones, Cameras, or Recording Devices will be allowed in the Courthouse. Photo ID is required. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
