ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) recently tackled two separate fire incidents on St. Thomas within days of each other, successfully averting any injuries.
According to details provided by VIFEMS, on February 23 the agency was called to a structural fire in Estate Solberg, reported at 2:04 p.m. The dispatched units from the Hotel Command, along with support from Echo, Tango, and Lima Commands, worked swiftly to contain the blaze, which resulted in the loss of a house and a shed. The Fire Prevention Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
Following the Estate Solberg incident, VIFEMS faced another challenge on February 26, when a fire broke out at the Tropical Bliss Spa in the Crown Bay Center. Responding units 101 and 207, aided by VIPD, contained the spa's back room fire within ten minutes, preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of the public. The Fire Marshal is assessing the cause and extent of the damage.
