ST. CROIX — The V.I. Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) announced Monday afternoon that it is responding to a recent increase in vehicle fires on St. Croix, including a Sunday night incident in the Wendy’s parking lot where a car was found fully engulfed in flames.
The Wendy's parking lot fire occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. VIFEMS crews arrived promptly at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire, preventing damage to nearby property and ensuring the safety of those in the area.
According to the fire department, while the cause of the Wendy’s parking lot fire—as well as other recent vehicle fires on the island—remains under investigation, fire officials are urging the public to remain alert. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or fires by immediately calling 911.

In a broader reminder about fire prevention, VIFEMS is advising the community to practice fire safety by regularly inspecting vehicles for mechanical issues and avoiding the storage of flammable materials in or near automobiles.
“Our crews are committed to responding quickly and safely to every emergency. We want every resident in the Virgin Islands to feel protected and supported,” said VIFEMS Director Antonio Stevens.
The department emphasized that public safety remains a top priority and pledged continued vigilance as investigations continue.
