ST. THOMAS — Federal authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information on the brutal murders of 14- year-old Aaron Ashby and Rique Ashby, 29, in the Tutu area on July 9th.

Police said the 911 emergency call center was alerted of shots fired in the vicinity of the old Tutu High Rise complex, near Building 13.

Emergency Medical Technicians found one victim dead at the scene.  The second victim was taken by ambulance to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

The victims were identified by family members.

St. Thomas / St. John Chief of Police Steven Phillip decried the latest incident of gun violence and appealed to the community for information to help solve this crime.

Despite the appeals to the public, there is no indication authorities have any investigative leads to pursue.

“We are asking our residents to find alternate ways of resolving disputes. Using guns is never the right way. As we always say, if you see something, say something,” Mr. Persons said.

Anyone with information are asked to call law enforcement at 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211 extension 5569, or anonymously at Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
