ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department is investigating a tragic case of suicide at Estate Anna's Hope. The incident took place on Wednesday and was reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center at approximately 5:09 p.m.
Upon receiving the distress call, EMS, Fire, and VIPD officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. The officers made contact with the reporting person upon arrival, who was later identified as the mother of the deceased, 24-year-old Akil M. Emanuel.
The mother disclosed that she found her son in a life-threatening situation in their backyard upon her return home at approximately 5:00 p.m. With the assistance of another family member, immediate steps were taken to provide emergency aid and 911 was called. The mother also initiated CPR efforts until professional medical assistance arrived on the scene.
Emergency Medical Technicians were on the scene and pronounced Akil M. Emanuel dead at approximately 5:25 p.m.
