A cabaret provides entertainment in a club or restaurant setting while the audience eats or drinks at tables.
The V.I. Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs announced Monday that it will host a series of three educational town halls on USVI laws regarding the issuance of tavern keeper liquor license as well as nightclub, cabaret and tavern licensing categories.
Town halls will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
St. Croix: Date: Monday, March 14, 2022
Location: Sunny Isles Amphitheater
St. John: Date: Tuesday, March 15, 2022
Location: Franklin D. Powell Park
St. Thomas: Date: Wednesday, March 16, 2022
Location: Emancipation Garden Vendors Plaza
“There are requirements DLCA must abide by before issuing these license categories,” stated DLCA Commissioner Richard Evangelista. “We find it necessary to educate on these limitations and requirements before an individual invests their hard-earned money leasing a property not permitted to conduct this type of business activity.”
He added, “It is important to find the most appropriate balance between economic activity and the quality of life for persons who reside adjacent, or within proximity of establishments with a tavern keeper license." DLCA is asking everyone affected to attend the town hall meeting.
The department said it has invited senators and key government stakeholders to listen to the issues faced by the establishments with the current laws regarding tavern keeper licenses. The entire community is also invited to participate in the town halls, according to the release.
